Jehan Shehata-Aboubakr

Speech-Language Pathologist, BA, CCC


Jehan is the owner, director and senior clinician with Clinical Communication Consultants for over 15 years. A private practice overseeing for the last 10 years preschoolers and early school aged children diagnosed with autistic spectrum disorders and described with oral-motor speech and language disorders, social interaction and communication skill difficulties. 

Jehan received her BA in Psychology with Honours from Cairo American University in 1972 and her CCC from Ain Shams Medical University; Unite of Phoniatrics and Communication Disorders in 1985.

She was affiliated with the Speech and Stuttering Institute, earlier known as the Speech Foundation of Ontario, Toronto Children’s Centre for Oral-Motor Speech Disorders from 1990 to 1999.

She is with over 25 years of clinical experience and special interest in:
• The Processing of the Mind
• Early Language Development 
• Oral-Motor, Speech Disorders 
• Developmental Problems of Relating and Communicating.

She is Certified as: 
• Senior Hanen Speech-Language Pathologist, in 1991
• Level II PROMPT user, in 1996
• Fast ForWord Professional, in 1997
• Authorized Brain Fitness & Cortex with Insight Provider, in 2007
• DIR- Floortime, SLP Level III candidate, with on going training since 1998

She received training in :

• Carol Gray, Social Stories and Comic Strip Conversation: Unique Methods To Improve Social Understanding in 1997
• Lori Frost & Andy Bondy, The Picture Exchange Communication System, PECS in 2001
• Applied Behaviour Analysis for Autism and PDD in 2001
• Steven Gutstein, Relationship Development Intervention, RDI in 2004

She collaborated in:
• Translating Hanen's "Caring Connections" to Arabic in 1990
• Launching, supporting and consulting re. a sensory – integration intervention centre at Mukibaum in 2001-2002
• Launching and supporting a Fast ForWord based Language and Reading program at Arrow Smith School in 2001
• Launching, supporting and consulting a Fast ForWord computer based Language and Reading program at Merle Levine Academy in 2005 & 2006
• Launching and supporting Milton and Ethel Harris Research Initiative Study, MEHRIS at York University in 2005-2006
• Developing and implementing a Diagnostic Dynamic Integrated Therapy Program with Blue Balloon Health Care Services and Affiliates:- Clinical Psychology, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Music and Listening Therapy in 2007-2008

Jehan co-presented locally and internationally on: 
• Early Language Stimulation and Development, Toronto and Egypt
• Sensory integration, Motor Planning and The Speech-Language Impaired Child, Edmonton and Saskatchewan
• Group Therapy and the Preschooler, Across Ontario.
• DIR Model and Floortime Approach, Toronto and Abitibi-Temiscamingue

Jehan is member of the College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologist of Ontario and a long-standing and active member of the International Association of Logopedics and Phoniatrics, IALP, Zurich since 1986 and Ontario association for Families of Children with Communication Disorders O. A. F. C. C. D since 1997.
